The Glass of Water/Five Minutes of Thoughts/A Teacher's Summer Brain/Modern Appliances Are Crap

She sits at her computer. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees the unfinished project sprawled across the kitchen table. It’s too overwhelming, so she tries to avoid it. She thinks about getting on the elliptical, so she goes to the fridge to get some water. As she holds her glass against the automatic-water-fill button, she wonders why it is taking so long. The water is barely trickling out. Did it always take this long? As she waits for it to fill, she notices the dirty dishes in the sink, so she sets her mostly-water-filled glass down and starts to rinse them. As she begins to place them in the dishwasher she realizes the dishwasher is kind of full. Will there be enough room for dinner dishes or should she turn it on now? What should she do about dinner? She does not feel like going out to the store, so . . . leftovers or carryout? She remembers the clothes in the washing machine and decides to go put them in the dryer before exercising. Shit. Why are the clothes still so wet? She turns on the spin cycle. Nothing's happening. Shit. The spin cycle appears to be broken. She removes the clothes and puts them in the dryer, hoping the heavily weighted, sopping wet clothes won’t break the dryer too. She goes back to the computer and realizes she feels kind of hungry. And why does it smell like bacon? When was the last time they'd even had bacon? She sees a text from her sisters and engages back and forth for a few minutes. Then she tries to remember what it was that she was going to do five minutes ago. She remembers the elliptical. Then she wonders where she put that glass of water.
